Speaking Engagement

On March 12th, I'll be speaking to the Capital Christian Writers. Like I told you last month, the title of my talk is, The Proper Cozy (We Don't Like to See the Violence, Dear). I have some fun stuff to talk about, like murder and mayhem! If you're around the area, come and visit. I'd love to meet you.

Candice Cooks

I'm one of those people who rarely follows a recipe exactly. And more often than not, I make up my own stuff.

Salmon Salad

I made the best salad the other night. Well, not everyone might agree with me, but I thought it was good. Unfortunately, this was something I did without measuring ingredients, so I can only give you an idea of what I did.

I had some leftover salmon, which I had baked the night before (coated with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and a bit of rosemary.)

I mashed my leftovers up in a bowl. To that, I added onion, salt, pepper, dill, and mayonnaise. Then I stirred it up and stuck it in the fridge. (Hey, if you've never made your own mayonnaise, it's really worth it. I'll try to come up with an awesome recipe next time.)

Once it was chilled, I put a scoop on top of a bed of spring greens, added some sprinkles of feta cheese, and some black olives. YUMMY!

Oven Broiled Vegies

I wanted to do something a bit different last week. A dear friend was spending the night, so I knew I could experiment, and if it failed, she would be forgiving.

I took some red and yellow peppers, sliced them thinly and added some frozen zucchini. I coated them with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and a bit of dill and rosemary. Then I baked them (at approximately 350.) Once they were soft, they were a bit watery, so I blotted the water up with a paper towel, added a touch of butter to them, and put them back in the oven under the broiler until the edges were browned.

Wow. They were really good. I served those with the baked salmon and some basmati rice.

My Folks' Were Honored

Last night my folks' were inducted in the Maryland Hereford Hall of Fame. This is a really big deal, and I was so proud of them.

Here's my dad, speaking, and my mom sitting there.

What About the Weather?

It's now March. We had another snow storm last weekend. I went out and took pictures of my folks' cows. Here are two of the babies.

You have to admit they are just adorable. I also got a couple of other pictures.

So, What Am I Doing?

Finishing my second cozy mystery, Band Room Bash.

Beginning to Spring clean.

Working hard at the sheriff's office. Love it there!

Thinking ahead to May, when I go to Colorado to the Write His Answer Writers' Conference.

More to come. . .
