So, You Wanna Know About Me?

Officially I'm an author, hence this Website. And in addition to writing my brains out, I'm a freelance content reviewer for Barbour's Heartsong Presents--Mysteries! I do freelance acquisitions reviews for several publishers. I'm proud co-owner of RS Writing Services, the crime writer's answer to all things writing and law enforcement.

I've been a secretary, worship leader, and music teacher.

My greatest accomplishment? Being mom to Elizabeth who lives in South Dakota with her husband.

But all that makes me sound perfectly normal. What you need to know is that anyone who owns a large parrot as a pet is odd. I own a parrot. That really says it all.

You want to know more? Okay. When I'm at home, you’ll mostly find me in my second story office, slouched in my chair, keyboard in my lap, and feet up on a little stool.

Jack Pup is on the floor, worshipping me with adoring eyes. (Or else he has to go out and he's trying to tell me that.) Winston the African Grey is on his perch four feet from my head.

Parrots are loud, and I can safely say that eardrums DO vibrate. Usually I've got music playing to add to the din. I'm not sure why I bother with music in all that racket except that I think maybe if I make enough of my own noise, I won’t notice the bird. In particular, I like heavy-duty bass that pounds the floor until it's vibrating like my eardrums. It's a zoo in here. Yep. Nothing like peace and quiet to help with creativity.

Despite all that, or maybe because of it, I write books. And edit them. That means I get to live part-time in fantasy worlds. Wow. Escape from reality. Can it get any better than that?

If you asked my friends what my favorite thing to do is, they'd probably say laugh. I laugh a lot, especially at myself. Hey, if I don't, someone else will, so I might as well be first. I believe humor is one of God’s gifts to the human race to help us survive. When we laugh, we win, even in the midst of sorrow and especially in the darkest of circumstances.

The joy of my life is seeing bruised, brokenhearted people healed and restored. That's why I write inspirational fiction. I hope while people are entertained by my stories, they will also catch a glimpse of God’s love and how He restores lives.

That's the short story. If you really want more tedious details about me, check out the side bar.
